We all travel our rough roads and carry heavy loads at times, but every now and again there are times were it seems like nothing in the world matters except that moment you are in, right then and there. Most of us experience that moment of euphoria when we are away on vacation or locked in a room with that special somebody on a romantic get-away. I believe the words we all arrive at goes something like, “I could stay in this moment forever.”
So why don’t we… stay in that moment forever? Well it could be because we know the reality of not being responsible. We know what not working daily can lead to. We also know that there are risks in everything we encounter. We become afraid to take chance because of the others who rely on us. Often enough we rely on past experiences to guide our decision making process. We tend to harbor feelings about the past and think too cautiously about the future that we truly don’t allow ourselves to relish in what is now. To quote Jan Glidewell, “You can clutch the past so tightly to your chest that it leaves your arms too full to embrace the present.”
Being cognizant of the big picture is a great way to prepare for future opportunities. However, focusing on an object too far ahead will blur your vision of the things right in front of you. You must focus on your now and live it as though there were no tomorrow. Therefore, tomorrows past is worth remembering.
